Preparation for Camp
Though we will only be outside in the mornings, it will still be hot and students will be in direct sunlight. Please make sure each student comes with a water bottle, sunscreen, a hat, cooling towel, etc. We will have coolers for refilling water bottles. Also, start hydrating today! The more hydrated students are prior to camp, the better off they will be in the heat. Also, I highly recommend that students spend some time outside prior to next week to become acclimated to the heat. Every year we have a few students that have not done this at all that get sick within the first few hours. Do whatever you can to prep! Students also need to wear close-toed athletic shoes with socks. No Crocs, Hey Dudes, flip-flops, etc.

Parent Preview
The parent preview performance will look different this year. Nearly a quarter of the band is involved in archery and will be headed out of town on Friday afternoon. With as many students as will be absent, it will be impossible for our group to perform without them. So, we will do a short performance of what we have done during camp at the end of our morning session on Friday, August 7th. I apologize if you are unable to make it due to work, but it was a necessary change. I am hopeful that this is a one year change.

Band Photos
This is something new this year! We are bringing in a Studio 951 for band photos. This will be very similar to sports photos if you have done this in the past. The photographer will take individual photos which will be available for purchase. They will also take a photo of each student that can be used to make a full band photo that will be used in the yearbook. I have attached the order form to this email.

Also, this is when senior banner photos will happen. There is a separate order form for this and MUST be paid the day of the photos. Senior banners will be hung at the entrance of the stadium and will be highly visible during the fall. After football concludes, we will take them down and give them to the students to keep!

Band Parent Meeting
The band parent meeting that has typically followed parent preview night will need to change as well due to the archery trip. Our meeting will take place at 7:00 PM on Monday, July 27th in the High School Commons. This meeting will cover many items including band order forms, schedules for the season, band boosters, concession stands, sports physicals, academic eligibility, etc. It is very important that one parent/guardian attend this meeting. Please make plans to be there.

Sports Physicals
Each band student is required by MSHSAA to have a current physical on file through Final Forms. I have attached a document to this email for how to create an account to get everything uploaded.

Calendar
I have attached a calendar for the year to this email as well. It is as up to date as I can make it at this time. Please subscribe to the Google calendar that is available at https://www.cjbands.org/6-12-band-calendar.html. I am still adding dates to that calendar, but it is usually the most correct of all the calendars.
