Good afternoon! I hope everyone is well and looking forward to the start of the school year. I have a couple things to go over.
We had a coaches and directors meeting yesterday. Mr. Neria asked for all coaches and activities to have the following paperwork done by the requested dates. These can be found online at www.cjr1.org and log into your parent portal. If you have internet issues, please contact the school to see how they want you to complete the forms.
Social Media Policy 8-14-20
Citizenship Policy 8-14-20
Concussion Form 8-14-20
Drug Consent Form 8-28-20
We will still plan to have our last scheduled rehearsal before school starts on August 18 from 6:30pm-9pm. The later start time will hopefully help those students who are also doing fall sports to grab a bite to eat before band rehearsal. We hope to have most if not all the music ready to hand out for the fall. The order forms handed out last week can be returned then as well.
We are continuing to work on COVID safety protocol for the start of the year. We just completed an order for instrument masks for the bells of instruments and flute shields. The school will be providing gaiter masks for rehearsals and games that the students can wear. I also ordered hand towels for brass players to catch the condensation that builds in their horns. Directors will be washing the gaiter masks and towels daily. We will probably do a lot of sectional work when we are inside between the JH band room, HS band room, and HS choir room. Full rehearsals will probably be mostly outside or in the indoor facility to keep better social distancing.
The band instrument locker room and band room will have a procedure to get through and keep some form of distancing. This will be established as we get closer to school. This will chew up some of each rehearsal time, but will it is better to be safe as we can.
I am sure there will be more information as we get into next week's teacher in-service. Please know that we are doing the best we can with the learning curve to get the school year started. I always want the band room to be a safe place for the students to be.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email at [email protected]
Have a blessed day!
